I’d like to send a letter airmail to America. How much does it cost?
Qǐng bǎ tā fàng zài chèng shàng.
Please put it on the scales.
wǒ yě kěyǐ mǎi xìnfēng ma?
Can I also buy an envelope?
Hǎole, yóupiào 5 yuán, xìnfēng 50 máo.
Okay, the letter is five Yuan, the stamps are 50 cents (five Mao).

Altogether that is 50.5 Yuan
