You can update the character animation and audio playback settings in the “Settings” menu bar above, or via the settings below:

About animation and audio features of this site
chineseedge.com includes spoken pronunciation and stroke by stroke character animations. To access these features icons are displayed next to Chinese text, for example
- clicking on the speaker icon next to Chinese word will play the audio of the Chinese
- clicking on the red pencil icon to Chinese words will show a pop-up showing:
- An animation showing how the characters should be written
- The word or sentence definition. If the word exists in our Chinese-English Dictionary it will be displayed, otherwise our Chinese to English Translator will be used to display the translation.
